Every Place Is a House

So what I did for the weekend was go back to my hometown Spring Lake. I really needed a weekend to just get away from everything and relax. I hung out with my boys just like old times and I couldn't have asked for anything better. I actually found the time to go to two movies this weekend! I saw Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas and Immortals. Both were good movies but they are both the types of movies that's not worth seeing again. At my friends' house, the productivity level is zero to none. Absolutely nothing goes down there but we still seem to find entertainment somewhere throughout our environment. I really wish weekends were longer so I had the chance to hang with my friends for a longer period of time.

Suck Your Blood For Fun

One of the genre's we were asked to analyze was the vampire genre. We watched about twenty minutes of Twilight and about thirty minutes of The Vampire Diaries. We were asked to have similarities and differences between the two clips that we saw. Some things I came up with was that the vampire was always the center of attention in both clips and most girls always seemed to find the vampire to be very attractive. As for the setting, it was a dark, spooky, shady, yet pale environment in both vampire viewings. The audience would start around the age of twelve and probably start losing people's interest around the age of 23. Some more things I found out is that the girl usually falls for the vampire and the vampire ends up being bad news. Two more things I've noticed about them both was that the vampires have unnatural superpowers like running super fast. Lastly I noticed the awkward tension between the girl and the vampire during their first encounter.

Fairytales Tell Tales

For one of our assignments we were required to make up a fairytale with the elements of common fairytale stories. Mine wasn't the most creative story but it did have all the essentials is was required to have. It was about these two kids, Conrad and Jade, an impenetrable duo that travel around New York City discovering new places and getting lost in the midst of their travels. Conrad hears about his new party store opening up and they're the only place with these famous blue chips. So they embark to get these famous blue chips and on their way there, they see a bag of the blue chips on the ground. As soon as Jade picks up the chips she begins to eat them and two men come out from the shadows and try to kidnap them. Conrad kicks one  of the shady guys' butt and jade unleashes this ice breathing superpower on the other shady man, leaving him a frozen block of ice. Both Jade and Conrad are astonished about what just happened. Jade explains that it must be the famous blue chips that made her breath ice. They run away from the crime scene and continue to go to that party store. It turns out that the famouse blue chips were never in existence and that Jade and Conrad were the only ones to ever try them.

My Fears Have Become Phobias

On Thursday night a huge group of friends and I decided to go to a haunted house called Phobia House. I always have a tradition with my friends to go to a haunted house every year sometime in October. Usually we go to The Haunt up in Grand Rapids and that's a good scare. Every year they keep upgrading and every year it gets even better. This was the first time I've heard of Phobia House and just by the name of it, it sounds a little scary to say the least. Too bad it wasn't as frightening as I thought it would be. It had its moments where I did get startled but overall it wasn't that great. The things I did like about the haunted house was that it was sort of a maze, so there were multiple pathways you could choose from to get to the end of the house. At the end of our journey, only a couple people went back to the house to party. Me and my friend Joe, accompanied by our dates, were few of the couple of people that went back and had a good time after the haunted house. I'd say in the end, it was a successful and fun-filled night!

Speak Your Mind

The topic I'm writing about for my analysis paper is a song called Freedom of Speech by an underground rapper named Immortal Technique. In my paper I explain all the things that lead against freedom of speech and I support facts to prove them. Immortal Technique does an excellent job in this song because he's not afraid to tell the world the real truth about our government and how they restrict us from fully expressing ourselves. I have examples of record companies that overrule your career as an artist and change the way you sound or the style of how you sing or rap. I've also got some facts on movie censorship and all the things film industries have restricted in the past and the progression of how they conquered those movie censors and how movies became movies today. Everybody should definitely go check out Immortal Technique because the majority of his songs are touching and interesting because of the stories he tells through his songs. But be warned that he uses explicit words and metaphors that people may find inappropriate. Listen at your own risk!

Whoa Man Take a Chill Pill

I don't know where all this homework came from. Last week I was all caught up in everything, I though I was doing fine in my school work. Somehow so much homework built up on me that now it's ridiculous. I have three papers due this week along with other smaller assignments like this blog. But I know that at the end of the week, when all this stress is lifted from me, I'm going to have one bangin' weekend. Having no stress and no homework to worry about calls for a very deserving time to let loose and party! But first I have to get through this dreading week in order for me to clear my head from school work. I just wish there was a switch that stopped time so we could just chill and take a deep breath and grasp reality. At this point I need a break in life, I need time to stop so I can catch up with everything else. Looks like adderall is going to be my good friend for the next couple of days. Wish me luck!

And They Say Drugs Were Killing The Youth

We discussed the topics on what the reason was why people take drugs and how so many famous musicians, like Sonny in the story Sonny's Blues and tons of other life-changing bands and artists that have used drugs in their life. We thought of some reasons why people might want to take drugs: to feel something, to have sort of an out-of-body experience, to cope your feelings. There are also many geniuses out there there that have admitted to having some sort of drug usage in their life. For example, Steve Jobs, the creator of Mac, admitted that LSD was a major part of his life. There has also been many historical and recent bands and hip-hop artists such as The Beatles, Slighly Stoopid, Kid Cudi, Jay-Z, Silversun Pickups, and many many other musicians that either have songs that are drug-related or have told us in their music that they have experienced drug use. I believe the drugs that these people use, they use to enhance their view on things and allows them to think to an even higher extent of what normal thinking is, and they think of a genius idea that might possibly make them rich or famous for figuring out the missing piece in something or maybe inventing something. And some admit that the help of drugs assisted them in their progress to their genius idea.
